Once made up of masked faces and underground movements, the Apostate made itself an official power after the Second War of Domination. Now proudly displaying their banners and faces, the Apostate makes stands against the Empire (and all those who will not join them in their fight) on any world where they can build a proper fighting force. A group of rough and narrow minded fighters, the Apostates are prepared to crush all those who do not help them in their pursuit of the Empire’s ultimate downfall.
The Apostate functions on a planet-to-planet basis, forming a loose militaristic republic. There is a reigning hierarchy of sorts, as those involved within the upper echelons report to one another. Although the Apostates have no apparent an official leader or spokes-person, many believe that there may be, in fact, a solitary man in charge.
The Apostates view themselves as the self-righteous crusaders of the universe against the ultimate evil, the Empire. The central pillar to the Apostate philosophy is that all the problems present in the universal society are a direct result of the Empire's existence and actions. They believe that every move they make is a step forward for the good of all, and that all those who oppose them are working against the very idea of progress itself. Although they view the Empire as their point of focus, yet they believe that all those who do not aid their cause are working against the Apostate itself. The concept of neutrality is viewed as a fallacy, and that anyone who is not an ally is an enemy.
Quick strikes inside cities or outposts prove much more effective then direct head on attacks. Apostates will patiently wait for their enemies, ready to crush them as soon as a false move is made. Small squads of highly trained soldiers, each specialized in a specific task, make up most of the Apostates’ fighting force. Everyone is a piece in the puzzle, and each plays an integral role. The major flaw in this system, however, is that the death of each solider is a stunning blow. With such specialization, reinforcements and replacements are difficult or impossible.
In the Apostate’s official document of self recognition, the actual constitution of the Apostate, they call to every faction to stand with them, or they will have no choice but to fight them as well. Other factions do not appreciate the demands that such a declaration make made of them and few have come to the aide of the Apostate. These actions have placed the Apostate in opposition to any and all who stand in their way.
